Description

One knob. One rooster. Considerable heat.

The Roaster boosts a frequency hard, cooks it with three stages of distortion, strips the low-end mess the cooking invents, and snaps the transient back on the front. ROAST drives all of it at once, so there is one control to find the sound and four to refine it.

What it does

• Roast — the macro. Drive, boost, compression ratio and threshold move together.
• Frequency & Focus — where the heat lands and how narrow the band is. The boosted peak is never cut back, which is most of the character.
• Note readout — the analyser names the strongest resonances it hears, and the Frequency marker carries its own note. Hertz says where the boost is; the note says whether it agrees with the track.
• Auto Snap — put the boost on the loudest resonance once, or let it follow as the note changes.
• Scatter — five boosts and cuts to ±24 dB thrown across the signal before the drive. Roll until it is right; the roll saves with the preset.
• Delta — hear only what the plugin is adding.
• Drive placement — roast the middle or the sides on their own.
• Snap — puts the transient back on the front of whatever just got cooked.
• Pitch — a granular shifter, up an octave and down two, with four stretch modes. Past −12 it keeps slowing to a full tape stop.
• Low Cut — removes the rumble the distortion invents, and nothing else.
• Auto Gain — loudness matching to ITU-R BS.1770, so more roast sounds better rather than only louder.
• Stereo — mid/side width, a bass-mono corner, and a correlation meter.
• LFO — tempo-synced or free in Hz, four destinations at once, each with its own depth.
• The rest — twenty-five presets, your own presets, A/B compare, undo and redo, double-click reset on every control, full host automation, and 2x to 8x oversampling.
